WHAT DIFFERENT COLOURS MEAN TO ME

Add colour to your everything

For me, every colour has a particular meaning. I associate colours with a certain place or event. Colours also dictate how I respond to situations. The same colour can have different meanings under different circumstances.

For instance, I wear the colour red on Mondays to say “Look! I am ambitious and have status.” I wear it to symbolise energy, on the day I can go to work with a free soul and less busy schedule. By Tuesday, work has piled up and my mood has changed, so I choose a different colour.

However, red also expresses danger, anger and sexual passion. Blood spills from the body when there is pain. Pain is normally a result of anger. But when I see a lady with red lips, the meaning changes altogether, and I feel happy and passionate.

Whenever I see pink, I think of a girl. When a baby is born and there is pink around, I conclude that it’s a girl, a soft and vulnerable being who always needs protection. The colour pink says ‘Be careful here. You might break something.’
Do you still remember how you learned about colouring from lower grades?

Gold is the colour of pride and status. You cannot associate yourself with gold if you are not successful. In competitions, gold medals are the first prize. Gold is a luxury that implies quality.

Black is all about danger and bad luck. Anything associated with darkness I see as unfriendly and unbearable. When I see someone wearing black, I wonder if everything is all right. Widowers wear black to express sorrow and heartache; thugs use it to hide their identity. Mostly, black reflects sadness. However, when rich people wear black, they demonstrate strength and wealth. Just think of a black car, the most expensive colour.

Colours can mean different things depending on circumstances and the individuals wearing them. I use colours to express a certain meaning at a certain point in time. People should not add a colour which does not correlate with their actual situation. It would be rather confusing, for instance, to have too much gold on you if you really are poor.

  1. Lier. Black is beautiful and does not in anyway denotes danger

  2. It does young man. Black should be mixed with other colours to give the beauty you are talking about - alone is just a mess. However, don't forget that the title suggests a personal observation, not a universal view.
